Hello quaterina, if you have severe pain this is usually the sign of your route dying. I had a similar issue... a dentist in the UK drilled out the old mercury filling and replaced it with a zirconium filling... about a month later I started to get pains in my neck... eventually the pain was intense. I handled the pain for so long then I went to see another dentist who without agreeing just drilled the tooth right down to a stub and fitted a zirconium crown. Sadly this did not stop the pain and eventually the crown fell out one Sunday morning. What had actually happened was the crown broke off the remaining tooth top and exposed the nerve! I went to see a new dentist who then capped the tooth and about one week later I had pain like I had not experienced before... as usual I did not take any pain killers however I did find that keeping my mouth full of lightly salted water helped massively with the pain. I also drank wheat grass juice and this also helped.
If I were in your situation I would try to see the dentist you feel comfortable with however if you are unable to wait you have your answer.
In my case I had my tooth extracted which was lucky as I had an abscess below!
The digital x-ray showed no image below the tooth (unlike all other teeth) in questions so it was clear it had to come out!
Regarding my neck pain I put this down to the tooth dying and basically a very bad dentist in the UK who had no idea what he was doing - he followed no safety protocol for mercury removal and was arrogant beyond belief!
Also you must find yourself a dentist that you can trust and connect with – I have gone through 5 to get where I am now and will not be changing again.
PS - Not sure if you are aware but you should not take Peroxide if you have any metals in your mouth as it will oxidise the metal so if you have fake gold or mercury it will leech out!
