Low Carb & Keto for Weight Loss and Great Health

Ivor Cummins BE(Chem) CEng MIEI  completed a Biochemical Engineering degree in 1990. He has since spent 30 years in corporate technical leadership positions. His career specialty has been leading large worldwide teams in complex problem-solving activity.

Since 2012 Ivor has been intensively researching the root causes of modern chronic disease. A particular focus has been on cardiovascular disease, diabetes and obesity. He shares his research insights at public speaking engagements around the world, revealing the key nutritional and lifestyle interventions which will deliver excellent health and personal productivity. He has recently presented at the British Association of Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation (BACPR) and also at the Irish National Institute of Preventative Cardiology (NIPC) annual conferences.
Ivor’s 2018 book “Eat Rich, Live Long” (co-authored with preventative medicine expert Jeffry Gerber MD, FAAFP), details the conclusions of their shared research: https://www.amazon.com/Eat-Rich-Live-Long-Mastering/dp/1628602732/

Is cardiology waking up to nutrition?  Healthy low-carb believer doctors still a minority.

Keto diet is lower carb and more fat than low-carb.  Keto might be needed for people with more severe conditions.

Ivor differs in that his advice is to not add more fat in to get keto, but skip meals instead.

We evolved from scavengers and hunters.  We even ate the meat-eaters.

Pharma and farmer fears are that people will not want their processed foods and meds.

Eat your fat in the food.  A high-protein diet is not ideal.  Eat to satiety.  One meal a day.

Have a cured hard sausage, cheese, or a tin of sardines on hand to satisfy urges to eat.

They can’t find anything against meat, but they desperately want to.  So desperate they’re playing up alpha-gal allergies to meat from tick bites.

Supplemental fiber is not needed.  Is a stand-in for processed food.  Fiber can’t add anything.  Study showing fiber actually makes constipation worse.

Mega-surveillance enabled by 5G.

Omega-3, EPA, DHA and fish oil?  Easily oxidize.  Good to eat them in small fish like sardines, which is a highly healthful food source.

Neanderthals never learned to fish, but homo sapiens did, giving them a survival advantage.

Meat and 2 veg was classic nutritional advice.

Can good fats help Alzheimer’s?  Yes, but the problem is what we had eaten over the years.  Processed fats exploded over 100 years ago.  Some Alzheimer’s is Type 3 Diabetes.  ¾ of our food is ultraprocessed and essentially poison.

Do we need fruit?  Modern fruits are bred for high sugar.  Probably little need other than for Vitamin C.  But organ meats are a source of Vitamin C.

Cream doesn’t have milk proteins and is naturally sweet.

Very low carb eater has low insulin.  When they do a oral glucose tolerance test, need to prep with added carbs for several weeks beforehand.

If we have no carbohydrate, ketones take over, and liver creates sugar by gluconeogenesis.  Higher glucagon stores.  We can pump out more than 10 times the insulin needed if fed sugar.  Brain switched to 70% fueled by ketones.  The heart loves ketones.

Body adapts to low glucose states.  Experiment on fasted subjects showed blood glucose in teens with no ill effects.

Mental sharpness enhanced by high ketone levels in the brain.  Hunger taken away, but a good brain for hunting.

Dr. Jason Fung is a fasting master.  One meal a day is fine.  Each pound of body fat is 2 days worth of calories.  When food goes short, the body starts sparing every calorie.  Burns fat as slowly as possible.  Pseudo-euphoria after 3 or 4 days without food will enhance meditation.

Listener with stiffness and joint in muscles.  Try carnivore.  Stages of adaptation needed.

Is it possible to get dessicated organ meats to fulfill need for organs?  Can get capsules of a freeze-dried organ combination from grass fed sheep in New Zealand.  Product is Organ Ultra from X-TendLife.com.  Coupon code IVOR15 for 15% off first order.  Ivor is a technical advisor for the company.

Listener not pooping enough on a carnivore diet.  Might need more magnesium.  Take after a big meal.

Are eating plants problematic?  For some.  Meat, fish, eggs are safe.  Added vegetables can be a mineral source.

Need to eat gristle and collagen from meat, not just the muscle meat.

Grass-finished beef not significantly different from grain-finished.  Eating any meat is better than eating grains.

Butter, eggs, organ meats can substitute for lack of fat in food.  Avoid seed oils.

Dogs are scavengers, but best food is beef. “As fit as a butcher’s dog”.  Cats are obligate carnivores.

The root cause of chronic disease is toxicity, primarily from retinoids and copper, and deficiencies of minerals particularly zinc, molybdenum, selenium and magnesium.
Please look at the research of Grant Genereux

And real world results of Dr. Garret Smith

High fat diets are used by researchers to cause liver damage in rodents. These high fat diets can cause problems sometimes within weeks, but eventually in months or years.

Lots of viewpoints Ann, but it is crystal clear… and Cummins and others have thousands of studies that prove Starches, sugars and carbs are the main culprits. Sure, if one wants to prove that certain minerals are the cause of disease.. I am sure there’s validity in this. But, animal foods have all the minerals necessary for human beings except vitamin C.

        Dearest Patrick,
Have you bothered listening to a single word while questioning Dr. Peat throughout the past decade?
Well, ironically, you have another chance to learn nothing this coming Monday.

So, what are you suggesting, I listen to Dr. Peat who I have enormous respect for… eat just like he suggests? And what if what he suggests doesn’t work for me, doesn’t provide the clarity, the energy … anything that works for Patrick? I should eat this way because someone else says it’s right? Comeon… think. … think

If all of us can not explore, experiment and find the right foods that is aligned with our constitution, evolution and specie specific for the best results, why are we here. I have clocked nearly 76 earth years on my body… look at me… listen to me … do you really think I am eating the wrong foods?

          Dearest Y,
Have you listened to his latest show where he talks “up” animal foods and says he is now not eating any vegetables.

Maybe he’s always learning from us and the world.

Patrick, I got the vibe you were impressed with Dr. Chafee’s physique more than Dr. Peats. You’ve mentioned how good Chafee looks. Bear in mind, he’s still relatively youngish & athletic. I eat more meat now but acknowledge the healing benefits of juicing too. Wild how one radio has become a carnivore diet plug.
