-Question from a listener:When aspartame is consumed, the tongue tastes the sweetness then the brain thinks sugar is coming then insulin is released. That’s why diet sodas can make one gain weight. Therefore, what happens when the tongue tastes stevia? I love the strawberry whey protein, could you explain what dextrose and maltose is and why it’s needed in the whey protein? So if we eat protein with carbs, such as eggs with toast, we don’t the blood sugar spike as with toast alone?
-Question from a listener: Whichdiet should someone eat when trying to overcome Lyme disease , candida and leaky gut?
-Question from a listener:I was thinking about doing a ketogenic raw vegan diet. Eating mostly avocados, greens, veggies, nuts, seeds and coconut oil. Good idea or no?Could you also just take a raw vegan protein powder to get enough protein?
-Question from a listener:I recently had my thyroid tested and the free T3 was low and the free T4 and TSH were both at the lower end of the normal range. I have had chronic depression for many years with low energy. I also have low functioning adrenals. My cholesterol is high from the low thyroid, my digestion and elimination are very sluggish. I am a slow oxidizer and in sympathetic mode. I have a very hard time finding foods I can eat without bloating, etc. Meat is the easiest for me to eat but I feel it’s not helping the sluggishness in my body. I have a hard time digesting fats and carbs cause bloating. Does Stephen have any suggestions of things I can do to help my health situation? I am 51, female, and slightly underweight with good blood pressure and glucose/insulin levels.
