Nitric oxide is NOT generated by red light and near-infrared radiation.

Red light photodissociates nitric oxide.

It can also be photodissociated by specific ultraviolet radiation frequencies (bands near 191 and 183 nanometers).

Nitric oxide is a potent free radical involved in many diseases, including electromagnetic hypersensitivity (EHS).

Yes, nitric oxide plays a major role in all diseases caused by electric and magnetic fields (EMFs), including autism.

“Cases of each of these [chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, multiple chemical sensitivity, and post-traumatic stress disorder] are initiated by certain short-term stressors. These include both bacterial and viral infections in CFS and FM, exposure to three types of pesticides or to organic solvents, in MCS, to physical trauma in FM or PTSD, or to severe psychological stress for PTSD or any of these others. There are others, totaling 12 or 13 such stressors.

“I have concentrated on thyroid, progesterone, and red light as the most important factors that protect against estrogen, and these all turn out to be protective against stress, shock, ionizing radiation, free radicals, lipid peroxidation, thymic atrophy, osteoporosis, arthritis, scleroderma, apoptotic cell death, and other problems that are involved in tissue degeneration or aging.”

Also, according to Ray Peat …

“Red light accelerates wound healing, and improves the quality of the scar, reducing the amount of fibrosis.”

And …

“Cytochrome oxidase is one of the enzymes damaged by stress and by blue light, and activated or restored by red light, thyroid, and progesterone. It’s a copper enzyme, so it’s likely to be damaged by excess iron.”

Moral of this story …

Red light and near-infrared radiation are superheroes, but if anyone tells you their good effects are due to nitric oxide, roll up your pants, it’s too late to save your shoes!

    inspired by your latest blog entries i’ve gone and bought red glass for my lamps at home. they have a very grounding “here now” effect and i do love the bordello-esque vibe they lend to a home :) also, thank you for your extensive answers to my last questions and one more: adano on bismuth? it’s a “non-toxic” alternative to lead and supposedly kills h. pylori. crystal enthusiasts also like the crystalline form for meditation. any nitty gritty on the subtle details? thanks again!

      Adano classified bismuth as an evening Growth Zone 3 (indigo) element, but I can’t find a single quote about it.

      It’s used for ulcers and intestinal disorders, but Vibrant Gal and I know someone who was hospitalized for surgery due to taking it for diarrhea.

    i had cravings for nacho chips and went and bought organic ones with sunflower oil. now i want these pufas out of me asap. is choline from cabbage a good idea? it emulsifies so should make the fat water-soluble and let it leave via the kidneys? oil pulling? does it pull other oils out? any ideas from your inventive mind and mind-info-bank are appreciated. ( you should do the “pufa quick removal guide” for people who occasionally encounter them. like the gluten people have their share of tricks up the sleeve :)) )

      Choline and oil pulling have negligible effects when it comes to PUFAs.

      (Oil pulling is OK for other things, which is why Vibrant Gal and I do it every night without fail.)

      Your best bets are saturated fat (especially butter), vitamin E, and exposure to red light.

      One bag of corn chips containing PUFAs shouldn’t be an issue.

      People get into trouble when they eat PUFAs day after day on an ongoing basis (for months).

      Foods containing PUFAs, nitrates, L-arginine, and food additives generate nitric oxide.

      Blue light at night and/or smog anytime of the day create nitric oxide.

      But the absolute worst generator of nitric oxide is psychological/emotional stress.

      Just being annoyed generates nitric oxide.

    Just dealing with stress is not the problem. Its the emotion connected to the stress, blocks the light from balancing a person back to baseline.
