Nick Haslam (Psychology in the Bathroom, 2012) wrote …

“Freud first identified the anal character in 1908. In a short paper entitled ‘Character and anal erotism’, he noted a cluster of three traits which has come to be known as the anal triad: orderliness, obstinacy and parsimony. Orderliness referred to conscientiousness, reliability and a concern with cleanliness; obstinacy involved stubbornness, wilfulness and irascibility; and parsimony amounted to a tight and miserly way with money, which, Freud, argued, is often symbolically equated with faeces, especially when it takes the form of gold.”

According to the same source …

“Freud merely sketched the anal character and it was left to two psychoanalytical pioneers, Ernest Jones (1918/1950) and Karl Abraham (1923), to complete the portrait. Were the term not already reserved, we might be tempted to name these three pioneers the ‘anal triad’.”

Karl Abraham (Selected Papers of Karl Abraham M.D., 1927) wrote …

“His free associations gradually led us to the deeper motives for his strange inclination [to see whether any mother-of-pearl buttons were lying in the street]. They showed that he connected the mother-of-pearl of which the buttons were made with the idea of brightness and cleanness, and then of special worth. We had thus arrived at his repressed coprophilic interests. I may remind my readers of [Sándor] Ferenczi’s excellent paper on this subject. In it he shows how the child first takes pleasure in substance that is soft and yielding, then in hard and granular material, and finally in small, solid objects with a clean and shining surface. In the unconscious these objects all remain equivalent to excrement.

“The mother-of-pearl buttons stood, then, for excrement.”

Michael Eigen (The Psychotic Core, 1993, 2004) wrote …

“Jungians, in accord with an ancient tradition, see in the hooped snake a mandala, a symbol of wholeness. The Age of the Circle arose with the spread of mother goddess figures, the centrality of fertility dramas, the barnyard, the farm, and, finally, the city-state. The circle was womb, but more than womb. It heralded the birth of geometric thinking and its decisive epiphany; man’s eventual awareness of mind as such. Geometry pervaded life, from handicraft to a vision of heavenly bodies and the very form of the earth.

“The Age of the Circle (and its partner, the cross) portended the growing geometrization of life out of which we are now beginning to burst. The Industrial (and now Nuclear) Age is perhaps its most recent epiphany, although one that seems bent on spoiling the processes that produced it. What may have begun as the age of the womb appears to be culminating in a journey through the asshole, a possibility encoded in the encircled serpent at the outset. In this regard, a patient once dreamt of an encircled snake trying to disappear head first up its own anus, an apt, if vulgar, image of our present cultural impasse.”

We are dreams inside of dreams inside of dreams — like Russian nesting dolls — trying to work our way out of Maya’s maze.

Adano left Kriya behind a long time ago, consigning it to the first stage of a three-stage rocket flight.

Kriya is only the first stage of our multi-stage intergalactic adventure.

Kriya can only take us back to the womb, but cannot take us inside it.

The first of three stages is jettisoned, and the second — Mantra — takes us into the womb (Savikalpa Samadhi).

The nose is irrelevant at this stage. Breathing connects directly to the dan tian (the womb).

“Do you think that’s air you’re breathing?” Morpheus asks Neo in the movie The Matrix.

The second of the three stages is jettisoned, and the third — Audible Life Stream — takes us to the Mother Ship (Nirvikalpa Samadhi).

The above is pretty much how Adano explained meditation to me.

Also — at least as he explained it to me — Yogananda described the dream body in reverse.

Consciousness acting on Consciousness projected as Matter acting on Matter — the Babaji Body — is the best of all possible worlds, the apex of the pyramid, while Being-ness acting on Being-ness is the cornerstone.

The Babaji Body is the Cosmic Oscar — the Pillar (Matter acting on Matter) in the House of the Lord (Being-ness acting on Being-ness).

Adano often referred to Milarepa, who left multiple corpses behind — some were burned, some were buried.

All of them were Diamond Bodies; all of them were Milarepa, including all unburned and unburied bodies.

Each body was and is an original, not a copy.

Renu Lal Singh (Right Life: Teachings of the Shivapuri Baba, 1975, 1984) wrote …

“Shri Shivapuri Baba challenged the proposition 1 + 1 = 2. Einstein at once became contemplative but could not follow him. So far as I remember and understand, Shri Shivapuri Baba told Einstein, ‘Absolutely speaking, only God exists, so the question of adding one thing to another cannot be entertained. Relatively speaking, no two things or beings are exactly alike. So, to say 1 + 1 = 2 is convenient but not correct.”

    According to Kabir …

“I’m looking at you, you’re looking somewhere else. Damn the kind of mind that’s in two places at once.”

Re: I’ve heard that sulfur can lead to iron-deficiency anemia. True?

On the contrary, iron without sulfur is like Batman without Robin, Abbott without Costello, or Bogart without Bacall …

“Iron-sulfur (Fe-S) clusters are ubiquitous cofactors composed of iron and inorganic sulfur. They are required for the function of proteins involved in a wide range of activities, including electron transport in respiratory chain complexes, regulatory sensing, photosynthesis and DNA repair.” (*)

Just don’t take iron and sulfur together in the foul form of ferrous sulfate, something you won’t find in a health food store, but you will find in a pharmacy.

I had my tonsils removed as a young lad. Any reasons side effects you know of for removing tonsils? I wonder what they do.

    I’m missing my tonsils too.

The tonsils are the “guardians at the gate,” killing viruses, bacteria, fungi, parasites, and cancer cells.

They also “sound the alarm,” warning other cells throughout the body that they’re under attack.

It was evening Satsang at Becky Hengsteler’s house in Tucson.

    Adano said …

“I stayed in delta for fifteen minutes, and became a Swami.

“I stayed in delta for an hour, and became a Paramahansa.

“I stayed in delta for twelve hours, and became an Ascended Master, and went up to a faraway sterilecorner of the universe.

“But I looked back at Earth as a tiny blue ball, and I realized, ‘If all is one, I left myself behind.’

“So I descended to Earth as a Manifest Master, and here I am, sitting in this chair, a liberated being, talking to myself as unliberated beings [pointing to all of us sitting in Becky’s living room], and watching the whole thing as an Unidentified Principle.”

When retelling this story, I usually insert, “I stayed in delta for two hours, and became a Siddha,” but Adano actually told me this at a later date.

“during yoga nidra, the brain wave frequency is at the delta frequency” an audio tape i’ve listened to proclaims. but the background drone sounds like slow moving gamma to me. also, the practice of yoga nidra (so called psychic sleep) seems to conduct awareness strictly of the real. fantasy as i know it seems to cease, replaced by pure physics, psychology and whatever i’m semi-versed in.

i feel it’s the absolute “real” some 90s musicians where very fond of proclaiming. but also like it can lead to a sensory ascetism and should be combined with the usual vedic practices of bodily engagement, baths, oil massages and what have you. my submersion into meditation has actually led me back to sitcoms, popular music and occasional cigarettes as counterpoints. is it simply the adano idea of karma as what actually starts a car? the ultimate way of life seems to be totally motionless but synchronized, pretty boring but totally fullfilling. thank you for a post of concentrate food for thought.

Swami Nitty-Gritty phrased it a similar way …

“Place the conviction in the sonics. Don’t put your faith in the optics. You fixate to an optic, you merge with the sonics, but there is no greater joy than to dwell on the optics.”

Or, in the words of Gurdjieff …

“If you go on a spree then go the whole hog including the postage.”

    Hi Atom!

My mom and I are going to have a 6 pack contest. We’re going to start now and see who has the best looking abdominal muscles around Christmas time. Should be some nice friendly family competition! haha

I know you went on quite the body building kick for awhile. I also remember you stating that there is an ideal time to exercise to get “shredded” or “ripped”. I have a pretty flat stomach and I’m aware that bloating (C02) is important to battle.

If your focus was to build the abdominal muscles, what exercises would you focus on and what time would you do them?

Thank you for helping me beat my mom! ;)
