Why are there two heart-related acupuncture meridians in Chinese Medicine? …

Heart Meridian (11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.)

Pericardium Meridian (7:00-9:00 p.m.)

<>

The Pericardium Meridian is also called the Circulation-Sex Meridian.

It was once called the Right Kidney Meridian or the Door of Life.

Other names include the Gate of Life, the Gate of Vitality, the Fire of Water, the Door to the Fire of Life, the Fire Kidney, and the place “where Jing and Shen stay.”

Kidney Yang (Life-Gate Fire, Source Qi) is housed in the right kidney.

Sir Lauder Brunton, M.D. (Therapeutics of the Circulation, 1908) wrote …

“We are sometimes accustomed to speak of this ‘unresting’ organ, but this is a total mistake. The heart rests in an adult more than thirteen hours out of the twenty-four; the time of rest being the diastole, and the time of work being the systole.”

According to the same source …

“Now, if the heart is only acting for eleven hours out of the twenty-four, and is entirely cut off from the aorta by the closed aortic valves, what force is carrying on the circulation during he whole of the other thirteen? This force is the elastic recoil of the arteries, which have been stretched by the blood forced into them during the ventricular systole, but which, if healthy, again contract during the diastole. The vessels thus act as a storage of energy, just as a watch-spring does when wound up every night, or as the water driven by a force-pump into a high tank from which a house or town can be supplied, or the elastic bag in a spray-producer.

“The arteries have really three functions. They not only act as (1) storers of force, but as (2) regulators, and as (3) motors. Their power of regulating the supply of blood to different parts of the body was known to Harvey, who said: — ‘It is manifest that the blood in its course does not everywhere pass with the same celerity, neither with the same force in all places, and at all times … In fear, and under a sense of infamy and of shame, the face is pale; but the ears burn, as if for the evil they heard or were to hear.'”

“This is an ATOM-sphere. Your will to live holds the atoms together. Your will to die demagnetizes the atoms. It’s the kinetic action of your muscle to your voice — kinesiology. Death is in your mouth. Life is in your mouth.”

Hello Atom! It seems like the witch hunt for oxalic acid has been on the rise again in other “health” outlets, and it has reminded me of your excellent blog “Teeth & Kidneys & Oxalic Acid” where you discuss the actual health benefits of the alleged “anti-nutrient”. It brings up a question regarding almond butter and sesame butter: would they be even more nutritious if they were made from soaked/sprouted almonds and sesame seeds, or if they are eaten on time does sprouting make any significant difference in boosting access to their minerals, vitamins, etc.?

Both sprouting and dextrinization reduce oxalic acid.

Oxalic acid is entirely destroyed by instantly heating it to 155° Fahrenheit — preheating the water and dropping in the green leafy vegetable of your choice. (Spinach might be the exception to the rule.)

The foregoing factoid comes from an 1853 medical book. How come scientists knew more about oxalic acid and its derivatives 165 years ago than they do today? (Know the Source and Follow the Money.)

Thank you Atom! So while roasting the almonds and sesame seeds before they are turned into butters would lower the oxalic acid levels, would the ideal still be to sprout them, or are there actually some nutritional benefits unique to roasting nuts and seeds? Is one form of preparation preferred over the other for those following Sun Sync Nutrition and “eating lower on the food chain” on the path to the Diamond Body, or do they both have a place at the table?

Soaking almonds is the highest choice. As for 99% of all the other nuts/seeds, there is no appreciable difference.
