People most susceptible to vitamin B12 deficiency include …

(1) vegans,

(2) those who take stomach drugs,

(3) those with insufficient saliva,

(4) those who abuse potassium supplements,

(5) those who eat too much pectin (or take it as a supplement),

(6) those who eat “junk food,”

(7) those who prematurely age themselves by eating “out of time,” etc.

Contrary to Old Scientists’ Tales, a vegan can obtain bioavailable vitamin B12 from plant sources.

But, unless vegans really know what they are doing, they pay a high price for abstaining from animal products.

Their babies often pay a higher price.

Organic vegetables grown in cow manure contain trace amounts of bioavailable vitamin B12.

They seem to have the ability to incorporate vitamin B12 from the organic fertilizer.

Some edible algaes contain bioavailable vitamin B12.

Chlorella and nori (both green and purple) do.

Blue-green algae does not.

The jury is still out on spirulina. Some tests show that spiulina’s two types of pseudovitamin B12 interfere with vitamin B12 metabolism.

Mushrooms contain bioavailable vitamin B12.

So does black tea. Oolong and green tea do not.

Bamboo shoots contain trace amounts of bioavailable vitamin B12.

A vegan taking stomach drugs might be wise to consider vitamin B12 supplementation.

A vegan practicing Mouth Cavity Yoga can absorb and assimilate extra vitamin B12 – perhaps a lot more.

Horace Fletcher (1849-1919) was known as “The Great Masticator,” and advised chewing each mouthful of food at least 32 times.

        Spirulina is a potent cancer-killer. It’s just not a reliable source of B-12.

        Other algaes can’t hold a candle to spirulina.

        Extended space travel without spirulina is almost unthinkable.

      Someone being told they have an MTFHR syndrome is like someone being told they can’t get from point A to point B in a city because one highway has been closed for repair.

      Riboflavin can substitute for vitamin B12 in a pinch.

      It can do the same for folic acid.

      Supplements versus Drugs is a salient example of an “opposame,” two entities that are the same, although seemingly different – unless you’re one of the top tenth of the top one percent who run our planet.

      Supplements “cause” more diseases than they “cure.”

      Less than 1% of drugs are semi-legitimate, and the same goes for supplements.

    I started taking b12 injections specifically because of the poor absorbtion rates via the stomach (as this article mentions). I have an otherwise healthy diet but was still suffering from b12 deficiency so the doctor prescribed b12 injections for increased weight loss.

      The fundus is the upper portion of the stomach.

      It contains the cells responsible for releasing gastric acid and intrinsic factor.

      Like James Bonds’ martini, the fundus is best “shaken, not stirred,” to activate it.

      Jumping on a mini-trampoline is one way to do this.

      Etc. includes …

      (8) those not having regular bowel movements.

      (9) those having no ilium due to surgery.

      (10) those taking oral contraceptives.

      (11) those drinking water out of plastic bottles.

      (12) those taking diuretics.

      (13) those experiencing stress (more correctly, distress).

      (14) those taking aspirin.

      (15) those taking antibiotics.

      (16) those overfeeding on vitamins and minerals, etc.
