Coffee & Acidity

It’s on YouTube. One of the most well-known “health” gurus actually asked, “Lemons are alkaline? I thought they were acidic?”

This is not surprising. Most health gurus are marketers, and know precious little about health.

<>

Many health gurus think coffee is acidic.

It IS “acidic,” but this has nothing to do with pH (hydrogen ion concentration, zero to 14).

<>

According to Make Good Coffee dot com …

“Acidity in describing coffee actually refers to the very ‘pop’ that makes coffee taste like coffee. It refers to the high notes of coffee, without which your coffee will taste flat. If you’ve ever drank the coffee that was sold at McDonald’s before they started bringing in professional roasters, you’ve had flat coffee. Try to remember the lack of any peak it had, almost a feeling of slight coffee-flavored hot water. That is the opposite of an acidy coffee.”

<>

According to Coffee Nate dot com …

“When people hear someone say that a coffee has acidity, they generally think of it as a negative descriptor. This is likely due to the fact that outside of the coffee world, acidity is defined as ‘sourness or the state of being an acid’. Not really something you attribute to a great cup of coffee! What acidity means in terms of coffee is the presence of a ‘tartness’ or ‘tingle’ on the tongue. That is also what is referred to as being ‘bright’. A coffee’s acidity is graded when a coffee is evaluated, but the acidity is not judged on how bright it is, but how ‘pleasing’ it is. It is quite subjective, and what is ‘pleasing’ to one judge is not necessarily to another. For its subjectivity and multiple definitions, I’m not a fan of scoring coffees based on acidity.”

<>

According to Coffee Glossary for Beginners dot com …

“Acidity in coffee has nothing to do with pH factors, and coffee is a low acidity product ranging between 5 and 6 on the pH scale.”

<>

Low acidity? But isn’t “5 and 6 on the pH scale” acidic?

MORE THAN 99% OF ALL FOODS ARE ACIDIC before they enter the mouth.

Inside the body, it’s a very different story.

Inside the body, pH is determined by the Potential Renal Acid Load (PRAL).

Most foods swing to either side of a pH of 7.

What about coffee? It’s 7 — NEUTRAL.

<>

What about the drug caffeine?

It’s an alkaloid. It’s above 7 — alkaline.

<>

Does acidity “cause” cancer?

Yes, No, Maybe.

The pH of a healthy cell is 6 to 7.2.

The pH of a healthy vagina is 4.7 (more or less).

Impregnation is a lot like cancer — semen is alkaline, counteracting the acidic environment of the vaginal canal.

<>

Why am I called a “contrarian among contrarians?”

It’s because I “search wide.”

I cast my net wider than most other people.

It’s a Yes No Maybe Universe.

The exception to the rule can sneak up on your six.

See my latest blog entry (“Water & Alkalinity”) for a partial explanation.

Atom, this is probably a loaded question…here it goes: What are some best options for clearer skin? Or maybe a better question is who are usual suspects in redness of nose and cheeks? Also, breakouts in hormonal areas have been leaving scars… help me please XD Where’s a good start place after eating on time?

The key to human skin health is in the skin of the foods ingested —> Geometric Body Resonance.

Hydration is also important, and that’s controlled by proper acid-alkaline balance (not by over-drinking liquids).

Hormones are involved, especially inflammatory ones (estrogen, histamine, cortisol, serotonin, etc.)

Redness of nose and cheeks is sometimes called “Celtic blushing,” indicating both its ethnic proneness and its emotional correlation.

Hypnosis has been routinely used to stop the redness of nose and cheeks in its tracks, but self-hypnosis is the preferred choice.

Body Dowsing can find WHO is the cause of the syndrome.

Body Dowsing is easy to self-learn, but the resistance to learning it seems to be a syndrome in itself.

“The key to human skin health is in the skin of the foods ingested —> Geometric Body Resonance.” – could you give an example of this ?

It’s the Doctrine of Signatures, also called Anatomical Alliteration (by Dr. Ralph Alan Dale), and Geometric Body Resonance (by Swami Nitty-Gritty).

          Cytoarchitecture is a newer name.

Example: The skin of an almond is good to eat for skin health.
