NO For Nitric Oxide
By Atom Bergstrom
I’ve already dissed nitric oxide (NO) in at least half-a-dozen other One Radio Network blogs.
Ray Peat has the most data about its downside.
Everything written below — verbatim from our Sun Synchronized Food List — applies to nitric oxide too.
Nitrate oxidizes the ferrous form of hemoglobin (oxyhemoglobin) in the blood into the ferric form (methemoglobin), depriving the body of oxygen and turning the blood muddy red to chocolate brown in color.
There’s a dark side of an antioxidant – asphyxiation, suffocation, smothering, and strangulation, in the tradition of a pillow over the face.
Cattle routinely die of nitrate toxicosis at doses of 330-616 mg/kg of body weight, whereas it only takes 80-130 mg/kg to kill a human being.
Nitrate fertilizers cause toxic elevations of nitrates in nitrate-accumulating food crops, e.g., alfalfa, barley, corn, oats, sorghum, wheat, amaranth leaves, celery, collards, eggplant, lamb’s quarters, lettuce, spinach, turnip greens, beets, radishes, etc.
Thanks to nitrate fertilizers, we encounter many more nitrosamines in our plant-based food than in meats containing nitrates as a color fixative.
Most of our water supplies are now polluted with nitrates derived from synthetic fertilizers.
The herbicide 2,4-D also causes toxic elevations of nitrates in nitrate-accumulating foods.
Food irradiation is another source of nitrosamines.
