Dr. Tom Cowan, MD

The Cause and Prevention of Heart Attacks – A Radical New Approach Part 2

Thomas Cowan MDDr. Tom Cowan discovered the work of the two men who would have the most influence on his career while teaching gardening as a Peace Corps volunteer in Swaziland, South Africa. He read Nutrition and Physical Degeneration by Weston Price, and a fellow volunteer explained the arcane principles of Rudolf Steiner’s™ biodynamic agriculture. These events inspired him to pursue a medical degree. Tom graduated from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine in 1984. After his residency in Family Practice at Johnson City Hospital in Johnson City, New York, he set up an anthroposophical medical practice in Peterborough, New Hampshire. Dr. Cowan relocated to San Francisco in 2003.

Dr. Cowan has served as vice president of the Physicians Association for Anthroposophical Medicine and is a founding board member of the Weston A. Price Foundation™. During his career he has studied and written about many subjects in medicine. These include nutrition, homeopathy, anthroposophical medicine and herbal medicine. He is the principal author of the book, “The Fourfold Path to Healing”, which was published in 2004 by New Trends Publishing and is the co-author of “The Nourishing Traditions Book of Baby and Child Care,” published in 2013. He writes the “Ask the Doctor” column in Wise Traditions in Food, Farming and the Healing Arts, the Foundation’s quarterly magazine, and has lectured throughout the United States and Canada.

Show Summary:

If you missed the first interview we had with Dr. Tom Cowan, please take the time to listen before you delve into this one. We were so fascinated with his research into the heart and the cause of heart disease and heart attacks, we had to know more. He expounds on how the heart is a muscle, but not a pump and how we’ve been mislead about the causes of heart attacks. Please take the time to listen to both interviews and pass them along to those you care about. His information is some of the most profound we’ve heard in the 8 years of doing this show.

Wow! Kudos to the person who asked that last question and to Patrick for reading it….the role of gold and alchemy in the human heart and consciousness was the most interesting part of this very interesting interview. Now you’ve got to have him back to flush out this esoteric topic. Patrick I suggest you also try to get the physicist Dan Winter on the show, because he talks about this same issue.

Dr. Cowdan interview was fantastic and Patrick did a great job with the questions and comments. Dr. Cowdan is a genius, on the mark, but since he’s WAP we already knew that before he spoke a word! If you get Dr. Davis (Wheat Belly) on, cardiologist, he might add to some of what Dr. Cowdan said. I think it’s huge that the new Health Guidelines come out and flatly say DON’T WORRY ABOUT CHOLESTEROL in our diet. That is a pretty huge flip-around, yes? Even so, how can the government be so big and rich and have so many resources at its fingertips and still be so WRONG about so many things. If we didn’t have Weston A Price Foundation talking sense to the government and having a counteracting effect on the public, we’d probably all be dead by now for listening to government food and nutrition guidelines.

10 years ago my wife had difficulty walking. 50 yards or less her legs ached. Rest a little and go on to the next stopping point. Her descending aorta was blocked for 3 inches near the renal artery. In 2008 there was so much blockage of the descending aorta the surgeon had to open the blockage before he inserted the poly tubes to complete the bypass to the femoral arteries. My wifes body created collateral vessels around the blockage, that’s what kept her going until the surgery. post surgery she walked very long distances with minor discomfort.

I tell you all this because Dr Cowan spoke of only the brain or heart vessels plaquing. In my wife’s case it was first her descending aorta in 2008, then 2010 a heart attack (4 bypasses) 2015 fatal heart attack. She didn’t eat well and she was also a smoker to my dismay.
