Did you know…….

…there are five main components of fitness: the body’s ability to use oxygen, muscular strength, endurance, flexibility and body composition.

Here’s a few more fun facts about fitness taken from thegoodbody.com

The body has more than 650 muscles.

To lose one pound of fat, you need to burn roughly 3,500 calories.

Walking at a fast pace for three hours or more at least one time a week, you can reduce your risk of heart disease by up to 65%.

Being healthy and fit doesn’t necessarily equate to long hours at the gym, especially for older adults.

A study of adults over the age of 65 found that walking at least four hours a week reduced their risk of cardiovascular disease hospitalizations.

A similar study at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory found that moderate intensity walking and vigorous intensity running has similar reductions in risk levels for high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes and even potentially coronary heart disease.

Even at rest, muscle is three times more efficient at burning calories than fat.

Regular activity can ease the severity and reduce the frequency of lower back pain.

Exercising regularly can increase your lifespan by keeping your DNA healthy and young.

The average moderately active person walks approximately 7,500 steps a day, which is the lifetime equivalent of walking around the Earth five times.

Stretching increases the blood flow to your muscles and helps avoid injuries.
