Your body’s autonomic (Cruise-O-Matic) nervous system is divided into Yin and Yang.

The Sympathetic Nervous System is Yang.

The Parasympathetic Nervous System is Yin.


The Sympathetic Nervous System is called the “Fight or Flight” System.

The Parasympathetic Nervous System is called the “Feed and Breed” or “Rest and Digest” System.

Medical marketing associates the Sympathetic Nervous System with everything bad in the entire Universe, from hypertension to heart attacks, from acute stress reaction to polycystic ovary syndrome, from PTSD to RSDS, and many other maladies and misfortunes.

Medical mythology has done a magnificent job of transforming the Sympathetic Nervous System into the Bad Guy.


The Sympathetic Nervous System is the gas pedal.

The Parasympathetic Nervous System is the brake pedal.

Which is the primary system?

Do you build the brakes first and then add the car?

Or do you build the car first and then add the brakes?


The Parasympathetic Nervous System gives you an erection.

The Sympathetic Nervous System gives you an orgasm.

Is an erection supposed to give you an orgasm?

Or is an orgasm supposed to give you an erection?


Sleep is an exception to the rule.

Dreams are a gift from the Sympathetic Nervous System.

They come with a bonus … a boner.

Max Hirshkowitz & Amir Sharafkhaneh (“Sleep and genitourinary systems,” Sleep and Psychosomatic Medicine, 2007) wrote …

“Sleep-related erections (SREs — also known as nocturnal penile tumescence, NPT) refer to the cycle of penile erections that occur episodically in all healthy, sexually potent men.”

“Thus, SREs are naturally occurring and involuntary. They are closely associated with rapid eye movement (REM) sleep.”

“Age-related changes in SREs have been well researched. SRE recordings in potent young boys, young adults, middle-aged men, and the elderly who were free from significant physical disease revealed modest but statistically reliable declines in SRE frequency, SRE duration, and the frequency of REM sleep-related erections. Other researchers confirmed small age-related decreases in SRE frequency, and also found a lower percentage of REM sleep associated with tumescence in older subjects. However, no significant differences between age groups were found in penile rigidity. In another study, greater age-related declines were reported among subjects aged 65-74 years when samples included men with intermittent erectile failure. Thus, SREs appear to persist throughout the lifespan in healthy, sexually potent men.”


According to “Now, a Report That Sleeping Can Bring On a Heart Attack,” by The Associated Press, 1993 …

“Their study [a report appearing in The New England Journal of Medicine] found that during dream sleep the sympathetic nervous system, which helps the body prepare for emergencies, increases activity in a surprisingly powerful way. In fact, they found, it is twice as active as in normal when people are awake.”

“The researchers say the sympathetic nervous system, which causes the release of hormones that stimulate sweating, slow digestion and widen the airways in the lungs, could also make the blood stickier, so it clots faster. While this is good when people are cut in fights, most of the time it is not, especially if it helps form a blood clot that plugs an artery in the heart.”


What makes these peer-reviewed medical myth-makers think that slow digestion is a “bad” thing?

What makes them think widened airways are a “bad” thing? Do they think oxygen is a “bad” thing?

What makes them think stickier blood is a “bad” thing?


Stickier blood might be a “bad” thing if the color of your blood is dark purple-black.

Stickier blood might be a “good” thing if the color of your blood is bright vermilion red.


What creates dark purple-black blood?

Polyunsaturated fatty acids and highly unsaturated fatty acids.

      Although foods such as walnuts, cacao, aloe, and garlic are among the highest in plant cholesterol (not to be confused with phytosterols), one of the best ways to raise human cholesterol is by eating oranges, which contain no cholesterol (except possibly traces).
